Harriet Tubman Quotes On Slavery

Harriet Tubman became famous for being the conductor of the Underground Railroad that is a network of antislavery activists secret routes and saved houses to rescue the enslaved people in the 19th century.

Tubman was born in a family of enslaves where she was beaten and sold. Due to that she faced endless struggles and was mostly ill. She also suffered a head injury in her early years when she was trying to stand up for a fellow field hand. Due to that injury, she suffered a lot of pain, dizziness, and spells of hypersomnia throughout her life.

Despite all these poor conditions, unable to read and write, Tubman knew she was born to do something big in life and this thought inspired her to escape and rescue others.

Those underground routes through which Tubman rescue people led to free states but when the Fugitive Slave Law was adopted by many states, slaves started to be captured again and returned to their masters. So Tubman changed the underground routes to Canada where these rules were not valid leading hundreds of slaves to freedom.

Her determination and hard work to free people from their master’s freedom earned her the “Moses” title. By rescuing so many people she restored hope and faith in those enslaved people. Tubman also worked as an armed scout along with being a spy for the Union Army at the time of the American Civil War. She became the first woman to lead a military expedition in the history of America.

Harriet Tubman died on 10 March 1913, leaving behind her legacy as an icon of American courage and freedom.
