Who was Ernest Hemingway?

Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899, was an American novelist, short-story writer, journalist, and sportsman. Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. His work included seven novels, six short-story collections, and two nonfiction works. His novels and books are praised by many people who love classic literature. He was also praised by the title of  America’s greatest writers of 20th century.

Hemingway‘s succinct and clean writing style was loved and copied by many other authors, especially at his time. His writing style was simple and short sentences, avoiding the verbosity that would imply further interpretation or emotional rhetoric.

Unlike most people, Hemingway did not join college for his degree, instead, he worked as a reporter for a few months for The Kansas City Star. and after that, he was enlisted as an ambulance driver in World War I. In 1918, he was seriously wounded and returned home. 

Hemingway‘s debut novel was The Sun Also Rises published in 1926. He also shared his wartime experiences in a novel called A Farewell to Arms which was published in 1929.
