This legendary artist Frida Kahlo quotes will inspire you and paint their beauty in your mind which will make your life more beautiful.
Frida Kahlo was born on 6 July 1907 was a Mexican painter famous for her self-portraits and works which were inspired by the nature. She was married to the famous Diego Rivera, and many say she surpassed him in talent and fame.
Kahlo’s life was not easy. At the age of 6, she contracted polio that makes one of her legs shorter and thinner than the other. She was bullied by her mates for her disability which also make her isolated for a long time.
When Kahlo was just 18, she had a bus accident in which she was terribly injured and during the time of recovery, she started painting, which was a childhood hobby.
Kahlo suffered multiple injuries including fractures of her spine, pelvis, ribs, and collarbones. Also, her shoulder was dislocated. This accident make her nearly lose her life and she required more than 30 surgeries to recover.
When Kahlo lived with her parents she described the atmosphere of her house as “very sad”. And when she married Diego Rivera in her early twenties, her mother disapproved. But her father thought the marriage would be a great deal because Diego was 20 years older than her and was Mexica’s one of the most successful artists so he could easily support Frida financially because, after her bus accident, Frida did not have the ability to work and needed constant expensive medical treatment.
Frida had a complicated pregnancy that led to miscarriage which caused a serious hemorrhage that kept her to be hospitalized for two weeks.
His husband, Diego had a womanizer reputation and cheated on her with different women. Despite everything Frida still loved him but she eventually stopped tolerating his behavior and divorce him when she found out he had an affair with her younger sister.
After the divorce, Frida contracted gangrene which made her right leg amputated at the knee. She struggled with severe depression and became an alcoholic. She used her pain and loss in form of art. Painting helped her to cope up with that hard time.
Her portraits are painted in a very unique style that’s not quite abstract, but also not realistic. She used vibrant colors and bold lines to create distinct shapes that are hard to ignore. Considering how recognizable her work is, it’s surprising that there aren’t many paintings by Frida Kahlo on the market today.
Frida Kahlo died on July 13, 1954, at the age of 47 years.
