These J. Cole quotes about love and life will make you believe anyone can achieve anything if they really set their mind on it.
Jermaine Lamarr Cole better known by his stage name J. Cole was born on January 28, 1985, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in Germany and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cole became famous as a rapper in early 2007 following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up. Focusing on his goal to become a musician and being brought into the spotlight by Jay Zhe, Cole later released two additional mixtapes, The Warm Up (2009) and Friday Night Lights (2010).
Born at an American military base in Germany, his father was an African-American veteran who served in the U.S. Army along with his mother. His father abandoned his mother and him shortly after he was born.
His mother moved with him along with his older brother to North Carolina. They struggled with financial problems and lived in trailer parks for a while until his mother remarried but his stepfather became abusive and the marriage ended eventually. After the divorce, his mother became addicted to crack.
Cole began rapping at the age of 12 and took it seriously as a career in 2000 when his mother brought him ASR-X musical sampler as a Christmas gift. Cole worked a number of jobs when he was working on his production skills and serving as a first-chair violinist in an orchestra.
He had also worked as a mascot at an ice hockey rink. Maybe this is why J. Cole’s quotes and sayings are mostly about hard work and doing your best in life.
Cole is a self-made man who taught himself rap and produce music and produced tracks for various artists. Even though he became famous at a young age, he never let himself be distracted by the fame and stayed disciplined and responsible.
Along with the singing, production, he is the founder of a nonprofit Dreamville Foundation which is for the youth of his hometown Fayetteville, NC. The foundation’s motto is to encourage the youth to have a dream, belief, and achieve their goals. He has also bought a house there and turned it into a homestead for single mothers and their children to live rent-free.
Cole has received many awards in his career. Some of them included a Grammy Award, a Billboard Music Award, three Soul Train Music Awards, and 8 BET Hip Hop Awards.
